Well, today has been hectic...I'm trying to figure out chaperons for DCYC, and I'm currently still 3 short. I have 2 possibilities lined up, but no definites yet...so any of you reading this that are going to DCYC, try to swallow your reaction to not have one of your parents come, and instead embrace your parents sharing this experience with you and tell them to give me a call! 235-9064 - thanks!
So, since I have spent my whole day trying to figure out this DCYC situation and such, I haven't really had time to devote to this blog (sadly). As an alternative, I'm going to let YOU get a bit creative. For youth band, I want to add some more random songs to just sing during rehearsals (such as how I learned that "Brown Eyed Girl" is only in the folder for pure entertainment purposes) - so I have decided to add in the song "What I Like About You" by The Romantics (it's also covered by a ton of bands).
Yesterday I decided to switch up the lyrics to this song a bit though - in order to make it more appropriate for youth band...so here is what I have come up with so far. If you can figure out some better lyrics than what I have OR figure out some verses that we could tack on at the end...give them to me. I'd like to get your input and we can create our own amazing song to this one. I've attached a YouTube video with the song so that you can be reminded of how it goes and follow along with how my words would line up (or, eventually, how YOUR words would line up)...some of my sentences need to have the rhythms go a little faster or involve a word going over multiple notes...but either way, I'm appeased with what I have so far. I'm looking forward to your responses!
"Why didn't you tell me, so I could send you away with joy and singing to the music of tambourines and harps?" - Genesis 31:27
Adjusted lyrics (you can try to follow along with the original song by playing the video below):
What I like about you, you love me right
Tell me I'm the only one, you’re gonna worship for life, yeah
I came to earth in Mary one year
Told all the Pharisees what they had to hear, 'cause it's true
I died on a cross just for you
What I like about you, you really know how to pray
When you go up, down, cross around, think about tr-ue faith, yeah
I’ll keep on loving you through the years
Tell you how to get through your fears, 'cause that's true
I died on a cross just for you
I really really love you
I died on a cross just for you
Wahh!
Hey!
What I like about you, you believe in me without sight
Never wanna let you go, you lo-ove me for life, yeah
I’ll keep on loving you through the years
Tell you how to get through all your tears, 'cause that's true
I died on a cross just for you
I really really love you
I died on a cross just for you
I died on a cross just for you (repeated – we could maybe figure out some other things to say along with this instead of repeating)
